CSHRS spares no effort to dissemination of human rights knowledge and promote human rights education. Jointly with CFHRD, it has produced the TV series On China¡¯s Human Rights, in which a dozen standing council members of its National Council speak on different subjects related to the issue. In 1998, China¡¯s National Public Radio aired, for 12 weeks in succession, a 12-segment radio talk prepared by teh society, which turned out to be a complete sucess. This was the first radio program ever produced in China on human rights. Zhu Muzhi, who was then president of CSHRS, delivered the opening lecture. The other lectures were on the basic theories of human rights, international human rights instruments, the history and current conditions of human rights in the world and China, China¡¯s stand on human rights, and the differing views held by China and the west on the question. In October 1998, the society launched a website, which instantly aroused both domestic and international attention. In 1999, the China Central Television (CCTV) aired a series on China¡¯s diplomacy since 1949, and the society helped work out the scenarios of the two segments on human rights. The society also gave support to a Beijingbased company in producing a 20-segment TV series on China¡¯s human rights conditions. In 2000, council members of the society were invited to talk on human rights vis-a-vis sovereignty at an online discussion with Chinese and overseas surfers on the website of the People¡¯s Daily, www.people.com.cn.
